Amazing shrimp (seasoning on the side), smoked mullet dip, smoked mullet, stone crab, snow crab, and mussels. Kids liked their hot dogs and pretzel - which comes smothered in butter. Did not need butter for the crab or shrimp it was so flavorful. Cash only!

We came upon this establishment by accident. Looks like a beat up Marina fish market on the outside. But the minute you step into the entrance every thing changes. It was beautifully decorated for Christmas. Than you go into the bar room that is very interesting. Lots of seating. They have tiki tables and lots of seating outside. Very nicely done . The staff and the people are absolutely fantastic. The bartenders are fast and on top of everything. And so very polite. The beer is priced too good to be true. Seems like they keep prices from the 90,s. Blue moon beer . $3 bucks $ 4 margaritas. I’m used to no less than 7 bucks a draft . Wish I lived here . Their seafood is also priced at $22 dollars for 2 pds of cooked to perfection shrimp . This is truly a diamond in the rough. We come to hommassa every year. And I know who’s getting my business from now on . I very highly recommend this establishment.

Small but delicious menu. We ordered the steamed shrimp, steamed tilapia, clam chowder, salmon dip and a pretzel. The restaurant is right on the water, with some covered seating and a nice outdoor seating area,on the water. Everything was really good except the pretzel - it was a typical bar/pub type pretzel. But this is a seafood place - get the seafood!

My wife and I had lunch here on the afternoon of January 20, 2026. It's very popular, "bare bones" restaurant serving a limited menu of net-to-pan fresh and locally caught seafood delivered by a small fleet of fishing and crabbing boats anchored directly out back. It used to be a retail fish market, with a large ice house, but now it's all wholesale, except for the small portions that they cook and serve at the restaurant. You order and pay at the bar, they write your name on the ticket, you tell the bar tender where you are sitting, then the server delivers your order to your table or bar stool from the kitchen. We had a pound of the fresh caught (steamed) peel-and-eat steam shrimp with drawn butter and Old Bay seasoning and they were mouthwatering delicious. The bar only sells beer, wine and seltzers. It is always crowded with both locals and tourists every day its open. It closes as 8 pm in the evenings, so if you plan to have dinner here, plan to come early (like 5 pm) or you may have trouble finding a seat. They have recently added an outside dining area with several picnic tables, but during the snowbird season, or during the summer scalloping season, you can expect this place to be jam packed busy. There is a dirt parking lot across the street from the restaurant entrance that only holds about 40 cars total. If you are lodging at nearby McRae's or the Monkey Island Resort, you can walk here in 5 minutes or less. They only have one male restroom and one female restroom, so you may have to wait in line for them when its crowded.

A hidden gem in Homosassa, The Freezer is a charming waterfront establishment, offers a delightful experience for visitors. My second visit to this establishment has reaffirmed its worth, even a one-hour drive from Tampa. The establishment boasts remarkably affordable prices and exudes a genuine, laid-back local atmosphere. The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful, ensuring a welcoming experience. Food is ordered from a walk-up counter at the back of the bar, accepting only cash. While the food is served promptly, it is advisable to retain your receipt, as the staff verifies your name and number when processing orders. The beers and margaritas are exceptionally priced, providing a refreshing beverage option. The back patio and outdoor area create a lively marina ambiance, making it an ideal spot for evening relaxation. For those seeking seafood, the peel-and-eat shrimp is a delectable choice, freshly caught from the boats. The stone crab stands out as a standout dish, offering a sweeter and fresher taste compared to other Tampa Bay establishments, while maintaining competitive pricing. The clam chowder and cole slaw are also noteworthy, providing a satisfying culinary experience. A pretzel is a must-try, and the smoked salmon dip is exquisite. The clams, particularly when paired with garlic butter, are absolutely delicious. Overall, this establishment is highly recommended for its exceptional food, friendly service, and inviting atmosphere.

The Freezer Tiki Bar in Homosassa is one of those local spots everyone talks about, and now I get why. Prices are shockingly cheap, and the whole place has a laid back, local vibe that feels genuine. I have heard about it for years and finally made the trip. I would absolutely go back. Food comes out fast, but keep your receipt because they check your name and number when they run orders. The beer is insanely cheap. The back patio and outdoor area bring real marina energy, and it is a great place to hang out in the evening. Bring bug spray just in case. The shrimp is budget friendly and decent for the price. The stone crab is the real standout. It is sweeter and fresher than what I usually see, and still priced well below most Tampa Bay spots. The clam chowder and cole slaw are simple. The butter pulls all of the seafood together. The mussels were delicious, especially with the garlic butter. If you want a no frills local hangout with cheap drinks, fast food, and solid seafood, The Freezer is worth the stop.

Cool place with great food. Our group had the chowder, boiled shrimp, stone crab claws and a local can of beer. Went just before dinner on Presidents day and the bar area was busy but was able to order right away and find seating near the water without issue. Would return if I find myself in the area again.

This Fish Shack style bar seemed to have a good vibe. You’ll order your food from a walk up style line at the back of the bar, CASH ONLY, they’ll bring the meal in a to go style container with plasticware. Food is quality and we all enjoyed it. Steamed shrimp, steamed tilapia, fish spread and clam chowder was all a big hit and tested great! The outdoor area was nice and the view was good too We’d come back here
